Kanye West Calls Racism A Silly Concept & Has No Problem With White People Using N-Word

Posted in: , , , ,

Kanye West had a sit down with Clique TV in France during the Paris Fashion Week which he recently attended with wife Kim Kardashian. One of the topics that came up was racism and Kanye gave his own interesting perspective which is that racism is a non-thing and that it's outdated and overtaken by recent happenings. He also has no problem with white people using the N-word at concerts or singing along to rap music.

“It’s true that white people use that word at concerts. It’s like when my words get taken out of context. I can say anything I want on a beat, but when I would say it in an interview, it would be taken out of context, and all, ‘Oh, he’s an ego-maniac.’ But it’s like, ‘Wait a second, this is the way people rap.'”

Woody Deant, pictured above, and a few other real black men are speaking out to an NBC News reporter who is investigating the use of the men's photos for police training target practice. Unbelievably, the police are defending their actions. There was an uproar on Twitter after the report aired.

Woody Deant's photo was discovered by his sister, an army player, as she was about to use the police shooting range with her team for their annual training. To her shock, one of the images was her brother from his mug shot taken 15 years ago, and it was riddled by bullets.

Don Lemon CNN Anchor On 5 Things Black People Should Be Doing To Fix Racial Profiling

Posted in: , ,

CNN's Don Lemon hosting a townhall meeting on the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson is reminding many of comments he made after the Trayvon Martin's murder case. At that time, in talking about race, a lot of conservatives were asking why the media wasn't talking about other problems in the black community, especially the high rates of crime.

After the ruling on the case, Don Lemon felt it was time to address those issues and how to fix other ills that seem to be plaguing the community in general. He felt it was time for some tough love after Bill O'Reilly, FOX News host called out "black on black crime", saying;

The reason there is so much violence and chaos in the black precincts is the disintegration of the African- American family. Raised without much structure, young black men often reject education and gravitate towards the street culture, drugs, hustling, gangs. Nobody forces them to do that, again, it is a personal decision.

Don Lemon responded by saying, "He's got a point. In fact, he's got more than a point. In my estimation, he doesn't go far enough. Black people, if you really want to fix the problem, here's just five things that you should think about doing.

Zendaya Insists She’s “Black Enough” For The Role of Aaliyah in Lifetime Movie

Posted in: , , , ,

Zendaya Coleman  is to star and perform as Aaliyah in the Lifetime Original Movie but not everyone is happy about that. I got to know Zendaya as a very talented young lady during the last season of Dancing With the Stars, and I feel she could do the job.

however, many have criticized the producers of the movie for casting Zendaya beacuse they feel she appears too mixed-race to play Aaliyah, others say she is too light-skinned, period. Zendaya has gone on Twitter to respond to such criticisms of the movie which is based on the book, Aaliyah: More Than a Woman.

The 17-year-old Disney actress has also answered in more detail in a video obtained by TMZ. She said, while bringing her father into the camera;

“A lot of people say I’m not Black enough. Half Black is just enough. It doesn’t matter what color you are, it’s about how you portray the character. For those that don’t know, Angela Bassett and Tina Turner, they look nothing alike but she was that character so I think that’s what it’s all about.”

Tragic Joke! Friends Dress Up As Trayvon Martin and Zimmerman For Halloween Party?

Posted in: , , ,

I'm yet to buy into the American halloween custom, and  recently asked no one in particular what made a costume relevant for Halloween? Is it meant to be funny, is it meant to be scary, it it meant to honor something/someone you like, or maybe the TV show/movie you're a fan of?I asked that question when a costume ad on TV showed someone painted silver in a Gandhi costume, I found that disrespectful. This news takes the cake!

High School Students Hold Integrated Prom in Georgia

Posted in: , , ,

Race in America is still a touchy subject even in 2013 with the President being black and having won his second term just months ago. Dating across race lines is even touchier. While no one should be coerced into dating outside their race if they don't want to, there are those who do, and yet feel walled in by decades of racism and segregation.

Students of Wilcox County in Georgia bucked against the trend last weekend when they pulled off an integrated prom. For as long as anyone can remember, according to CNN, "Wilcox County High School hasn't sponsored a prom for its 400 students. Instead, parents and their children organize their own private, off-site parties, known casually as white prom and black prom -- a vestige of racial segregation that still lives on. Mareshia and her friends bucked 40 years of local customs this month by organizing their own integrated prom, a formal dance open to Wilcox County's white, black, Latino and Asian high school students."
